Families of plants for consideration and examples of those families. (for consideration in crop rotation.)
GRASS FAMILY
rice, corn, sugar cane, oats , wheat etc
CABBAGE FAMILY
bok choy, pechay ,broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, collard, mustard, radish, turnip
LEGUME FAMILY (and very good for nitrogen fixing in your soil I will address that in part 3. )
any bean, peas and pulses, peanuts , cover crops like kudzo ,
perennial peanut, alfalfa, clovers, and vetch, perennial legume shrubs such as rensonii , flemingia , madre de cacao, ipil ipil , fire tree.
ALLIUM FAMILY
garlic , leeks, onion, shallots
DAISY FAMILY
chamomile, chicory, dandelion,endive, globe artichoke, jerusalem artichoke , salsify , sunflowers , lettuce
CARROT/PARSLEY FAMILY
carrots, celery, celeriac, coriander, caraway, dill, fennel, parsley , parsnips
BEET FAMILY
beet, spinach, swiss, chard, lamb's quarters
GOURD FAMILY
cantaloupe, cucumber, gourd, kalabasa ,honeydew , luffa, pumpkin, squash, watermelon
POTATO FAMILY
potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers
